Mr. Scott Sammons, PE

Scott Sammons is a Colorado registered professional engineer with 28 years of experience as an engineering consultant. His areas of expertise include geotechnical engineering, construction management/administration, materials engineering, and environmental services. As a project manager, he has managed projects with over 50 professionals and field personnel on projects totaling over $2.1 billion. Mr. Sammons has focused his efforts on local, state, and federal transportation agencies, transit authorities, national retailers, utilities, education institutions, and energy and industrial plants. He has developed specialized knowledge of design-build and Public Private Partnerships (P3) delivery, having successfully completed six large transportation projects using alternative delivery.

Bill Barreire is a Colorado registered professional engineer with 24 years of experience as an engineering consultant. His areas of expertise include geotechnical engineering, construction inspection/materials testing, and environmental services. Bill has experience providing services for a wide variety of projects in the transportation, energy, utility, industrial, water, municipal, as well as public and private development/facilities markets. Project size experiences ranges from smaller light commercial projects to multi-billion transportation design-build projects. Technical expertise includes providing engineering design and construction inspection and testing services for large earthwork projects, structure foundations, earth retention, pavements, earthen, and concrete dams, utilities (cut-cover & trechless) and geologic hazards (landslides and rock fall).

Danny Bennett has 18 years of experience in the heavy civil construction and engineering consulting fields. His areas of expertise include operations management, project management, construction quality management, auditor, and structural inspector. Danny has experience providing construction inspection, and testing services for water, energy, commercial and government projects with a heavy focus on large transportation projects including projects like CDOT's T-REX design-build project in Denver, and MoDOT's Interstate 29/35 design-build. He recently managed a team of up to 60 inspectors, testers, engineers, and environmental personnel ($30.5M in consulting fees) that provided construction quality services and environmental compliance for the $2.1B EAGLE P3/Design-build commuter rail project from downtown Denver to Denver International Airport.

Steven Jeffords has 30 years of demonstrated success in a variety of capacities including program management, business manager, contracts manager, financial manager, market sector leader, and senior engineer. Steve performed program management for up to $250M in federal and private contracts and has managed engineering operations of up to 130 personnel delivering $25M in annual revenue. He has experience providing environmental and engineering consulting services for transportation, water, government, and private markets. Much of his past efforts have focused on the public market sector including multiple agencies such as U.S. Department of Agriculture, Interior, Homeland Security, Defense, and General Service Administration. Steve has in-depth experience and is responsible for contract negotiations, cost control, company finances, and overall client satisfaction.

VIVID's team has a proven history of providing all of our services to support the design and construction of highways & bridges, rail and transit systems, airports, and trails for a variety of delivery methods. We have experience with Design-Bid-Build, Design-Build, and Public-Private-Partnership. We pride ourselves with providing value to help win and deliver straight-forward and complex projects through innovation, hard work, and providing responsive solutions.Our certification as an Emerging Small Business (ESB) with the Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) helps teaming partners meet their small business goals, and our extensive transportation experience/relationships and proven success delivering complex projects brings great value to teams and owners.  We have established strict accounting and cost control processes along with an overarching Quality Management System that guide our operations.  Our full service Colorado Springs laboratory is AMRL and AASHTO accredited, and our staff are professionally licensed and have national and state certifications for the services they provide.

Energy

We have enjoyed supporting both the Oil & Gas and Renewable Energy sectors throughout our careers.  Our experience varies from overseeing the construction of a coal fired power plant to designing foundations for solar arrays.  We have assisted the energy industry with environmental permitting and site assessment; geotechnical evaluations for site development; foundation, wall, slope, and pavement design; and quality inspection and testing during construction to ensure the projects are built according to plans and specifications.  We understand the special emphasis on quality, safety, and standards in this industry and are able to deliver.

Government

VIVID personnel have provided all of our services to Federal and State agencies, as well as  local municipalities, throughout the United States (US).   In the federal market, we have significant experience with DoD, DOE, BOR, BIA, COE, GSA, and USDA. Our municipal work includes contracts with City of Denver, Colorado Springs, Trinidad, Castle Rock, and  Aurora.  Because we are  registered with the US Small Business Administration (SBA), as well as small and emerging business status locally, we help owners meet their small business goals. Geotechnical Engineer

VIVID is looking for entry to project-level geotechnical engineers to expand our Colorado Springs and Denver, Colorado operations that focus on transportation, municipal, utilities, industrial/power, and commercial markets.

Required Responsibilities/Skills:

  • Work on geotechnical projects under the supervision of a senior engineer

  • Conduct field work and collect field data in a safe and effective manner

  • Analyze and compile data for incorporation into geotechnical reports

  • Preparation of calculations and technical reports

  • Prepare illustrations for engineering and geologic reports using software such as AutoCAD and gINT

  • Accompany senior staff to client meetings and presentations as requested

Construction Inspector/Technician/Laboratory Materials Technician

VIVID is looking for experiences Construction Inspectors and Technicians to join our team.

  • Positions are for full time work along the Front Range – Fort Collins to Pueblo with focused work in the Denver Metro Area and Colorado Springs, Colorado

  • Night, weekend and holiday work may be required.  Work beyond eight hours per day and beyond 40 hours per week is typically required

Required Responsibilities/Skills:

  • Inspectors and Technicians shall perform routine inspections, field testing, laboratory testing on construction materials (concrete, soils, masonry, asphalt, etc.) for the purpose of verifying conformance to construction plans and specifications

  • Testing may include soil classification, sieve analysis, gradation, PI, moisture content, air content, slump, density, and proctors

  • Follow proper procedures, perform accurate computations, and maintain cordial relationships with coworkers, clients, contractors, etc.; Prepare daily field reports, test reports, and data sheets

  • Above average proactive communication skills, knowledge of construction practices, willingness to learn and an overall passion for continual improvement

  • Knowledge and use of MS Office, including Word and Excel is required

Education:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.  AA or equivalent to include courses in building inspection, home inspection, construction technology, drafting and mathematics preferred.

Experience:

  • Minimum 3 years of construction materials testing and/or inspection experience required

Licenses and Certification:

  • One or more of the following certifications (or equivalent) are required: WAQTC, ACI Field Level 1, ACI Lab, ACI Strength, and CAPA Level A & B

  • One or more of the following CDOT certification are preferred: LIMS, Plan Reading, Math, Survey

  • Will be required to maintain current certifications.  Additional certification training available

Other Requirements:

  • Valid driver’s license, clean driving record and ability to pass drug test required

  • Must be able to pass UPRR, BNSF railroads and DIA airport background check, if needed

  • Must also have a strong Environmental Health & Safety culture background

  • Experience with environmental compliance is a plus

  • Experience with boring logs is a plus
